Liddie

We have a whistler.

The other day when Megan and I were at the library with Serena and Liddie, Megan heard a whistling. Normally that's something Serena would do as is isn't strange to hear her whistling or singing while doing all sorts of different activities including singing to herself while spending time in public restrooms, but this time Megan looked around and it wasn't Serena whistling, it was Liddie.

Now she'll whistle on demand, anytime you want her to. She gets a serious look as she purses her lips together and it is so cute. I could have sworn that I heard her whistling in tune the other day as we were driving down the street listening to Alicia Keyes' song "No One"

So when we got the dogs we put Daisy's mat next to their crate so she could hang out with the puppies. Lydia came our and started whisting to the puppies and putting her face up to the cage and kissing them and then plopped right down in between Daisy and the puppies and played with them for a long time.

Daisy is so sweet to Lyddie that she just slid aside and let her take over. Daisy also let Lyddie lean back and lay on her while playing with the puppies.

At first we were worried that Lyddie might hurt them or something but now the newness is wearing off and Lyddie just says "Hi" to them, pets them and then moves on to other knee high adventures.

Derick

Derick and Daisy were feeling a bit jealous.

Mackie

Megan says that she would have chosen Mackie, but Miranda and I would have probably chosen Zoe, that is if we could have only gotten 1 of the puppies.

When Carol brought out the puppies Serena instantly latched on to Mackie and held him close the whole rest of the time. She had a cute pink coat with white fur around the edges on that Miranda had given her and the little dog was cuddled up in between the lapels of white fur. I couldn't tell where his fur stopped and the fur on the jacket started. To top it off it looked like the darker colored hair he has on his ears and across the bandit of his eyes looked exactly like the color of Serena's hair.

When we started discussing which puppy to get, Carol was so cute to Serena and said that we could have both if we wanted and that Serena could take care of Mackie and call him her own.

So that's the picture, and my excuse for getting two dogs. Imagine her holding that puppy all cuddled up asking "Daddy, please can I get him? Mommy said it's ok if you say it is..." Pleading with puppy eyes nonetheless!!!!! What, I can't have the memory of saying no to that in her mind forever could I?

At least the doo doos are tiny too.

New Dogs

We got ourselves two of the cutest little dogs ever. We are so thankful to Carol for giving these to us. She has been very generous to our family.

We are all in love. Megan can't stop talking, fussing and dreaming about these puppies. Even today as she was away working at the hospital she called to talk and I could tell that one of the main reasons was to check on Mackie and Zoe.

Also, Daisy has been having permagrin the whole time since we've gotten them. Daisy is so sweet to the puppies and you can tell that she just loves having them around.

Miranda has been the primary caregiver. This is not unfamiliar territory for her. For the last few years she has, along with Derick, been super reliable in taking care of Daisy and Tazzy. Miranda's primary duties were to take care of the front end issues while Derick has been picking up the peices from the rear end issues.

Miranda also took control of two of Daisy's litters of puppies in the past until they were all sold off. She fed and cleaned up after them multiple times a day and also bathed them often to keep them looking and smelling good. Thats probably the reason that the last litter of puppies we had were gone in less than three days!
